The interface was easy for me to understand, it worked right away with the files I needed it to. KeyShot offered a full featured demo that I could plug my files into, and it gave me good enough results (I'm not going to be very critical) with almost no effort. The cost, even with a pretty good discount, was fairly high, but not as high to me as spending even a day or two learning something else. I'm not experienced in this area, and rendering is a very occasional need for me. At the time (this is still true) I had essentially no mental bandwidth to spare for learning or researching this kind of software. There may well have been other things out there, but they did not turn up in my searching. I bought KeyShot a few years back when I needed a render solution on the Mac that was easily accessible and that I could start using very quickly.
